About

Carlos Collado (Barcelona, 1977) is a visual artist whose practice is rooted in photography and video. His work has been shown at international art festivals and has received various awards and grants for research and project production.

He holds a Master Degree in Biology from Lunds Universitet (Sweden). From 2001 to 2005 his photography coexisted with science communication projects under an interdisciplinary and visual perspective. From 2012 to 2016 most of his projects deal with the contemplative gaze, audiences and the backstages of museums. In his work, Collado also has explored the performing arts through different visual genres: from the documentary to the fictional and the conceptual. (see www.eyes-on-performing-arts.com). The last two works in this field are a photobook (THE RITE, 2021) and a fiction short film (“Unfocused Touch”, 2022).

2013:
Research and Creation Grant in the field of Arts and Thought (Beca de recerca i creació en els àmbits artístics i del pensament 2013 (Consell Nacional de la Cultura i les Arts – CoNCA).

2011:
El Pati de la Llotja award. EMERGENT 2011. Photography and Visual Arts International Festival (Lleida, Spain).
Artist in residence. Choreographyc Center of La Gomera (January, San Sebastián de la Gomera, Spain). Photographies for a contemporary dance piece Mabel with Cía. Sonia Rodríguez.

2009:
Grant from the Centre de Fotografia Documental de Barcelona to participate in a Magnum Workshop.
